Performance and opening of the joint exhibition of the Egyptian artist Rasha Ragab and the Austrian artist Joachim Eckl in the Al-bab Gallery/ Museum of Modern Art/Kairo in conjunction with the activities of the 11th International Biennale – Cairo 2008 .

Rasha Ragab´s performance theme is Orientalism. She has built an eniviroment based on 3 orientalistic paintings ( by Eduoard Manet, Jean-Leon Gerome and Jules Migonney) in which the black woman is serving with pleasure the white woman. In her performance she is embodying the black women of the paintings. Living through the 3 paintings and searching for her own identity as a black woman she is finding herself in the reality of the now, as a black nubian woman in the art-space in Cairo´s Museum of Modern Art.
