(….You would ask me whether the Orient would rise up to the portrait, imagined by me for such “Orient”? Oh, yes, it is likewise, and even more than that. Actually, such “Orient” would surpass so much over and above the narrow notion, imagined by me about such “orient”; as I have found all that had been “fogyish” in my mind’s eye – so crystal – clear; and facts occupied what used to be “propositions”; so much so, that I would look upon such propositions to such difference as if I would find all of a sudden, of such forgotten dreams!!)
The foregoing being a portion of the message written by “Justaf Flobert” to his mother, when he paid a visit to Egypt in Year 1850 (An Excerpt from “Flober’s Books on Egypt, written in Year 1949 – Translated by Salah Salah. This Book ignited within my soul anew, the notion of carrying out the act of “performance” pertaining to the woman in the concept of the world of “Orientalist”; and it also induced me to proceed in thoughts written by “Edward Said” on “Orientalist” and stimulated my appetite to engage in such “performance” when “Edward Said” would say in his Book on “Orientation”. Accordingly, the “white” colour of such complexion, from “Edward Said’s” viewpoint had been representing an actual notion and a fact that would entail taking up an intellectual attitude towards these two worlds: “the white” and then in-white”; and it would signify in colonies, speaking in a particular style and acting in accordance with a specific set of rules – and even acting in accordance with a specific sensation, to the exclusion of other ones.” .

(…. تسأليننى عمَّا إذا كان الشرق يرقى إلى الصورة التى تخيلتها له ،نعم إنه لكذلك، بل أكثر من ذلك ، فالشرق يتجاوز بكثير الفكرة الضيقة التى حملتها عنه ،لقد وجدت كلَّ ما كان ضبابيناً فى ذهنى محدداً واضحاً. واحتلَّت الحقائق محل الافتراضات-إلى درجة هى من الإمتياز بحيث أننى غالباً ما أشعر وكأننى أعثر فجأة على أحلام منسية) جزء من رسالة جوستاف فلوبير إلى أمه حين كان يزور مصر عام “1850.”منكتابفلوبيرفىمصر 1949 ،ترجمة صلاح صلاح”، كتاب مثير ،هذا الكتاب اشعل داخلى من جديد فكرة عمل بيرفومانس عن المرأة فى عالم المستشرقين،وأيضاً كتابات إدوارد سعيد عن الإستشراق قد فتحت شهيتى للقيام بهذا البيرفومانس ،حين يقول إدوارد سعيد فى كتابه “الإستشراق ” ومن ثم فإن بياض البشرة كان يمثل فكرة وحقيقة واقعة ويستتبع اتخاذ موقف عقلانى تجاه العالمين الأبيض وغير الأبيض ، ويعنى فى المستعمرات التحدث بأسلوب خاص ،والتصرف وفقاً لمجموعة محددة عن القواعد، بل والإحساس بأحاسيس معينة دون غيرها”.
